The Voice: Caroline Pennell’s Single Nobody’s Home (Listen)

The premiere of The Voice Season 5, saw the return of the original four judges, loads of laughs and a handful of very talented contestants. Among the nights stand out acts, was the seventeen year old young lady from New Jersey, named Caroline Pennell. Performing her own rendition of Ellie Goulding’s “Anything Can Happen”, she captivated the crowd along with judges Blake Shelton and CeeLo Green. Her quirky and sweet vocal style, gave the song a genuine and original feel. The battle ensued following her performance and in the end, Caroline chose CeeLo as her coach.

Out of all the artists who performed on the first night of blind auditions, we would purchase music by this contestant right now. The cool thing is you can and we’re not talking about the studio version of her song on The show.

In January of this year (2013) the singer/songwriter released her own 5 track album titled, The Race. Co-written with Jay Stolar, her self released record will impress you. In fact, the first track “Nobody’s Home” is both lyrically and vocally airplay worthy in our opinion. We like it so much, we’re making it our song of the day for September 26th, 2013. We could have easily used her studio version of Ellie’s song, but this track lets you get a genuine feel of her talent. If she wins the competition and gets the full studio work up, you can just imagine how good it will be.

You can purchase the single and the album at CDBaby now. We’re keeping our eye on sweet Caroline Pennell this season. Will CeeLo be able to tap her original talent and take her to new heights? That’s what The Voice is all about, we just have to wait and see. Go Caroline!
