Twenty One Pilots Cut In Half for House of Gold Video

Twenty One Pilots released a rather peculiar video this week for their new song “House of Gold” and we’re kind of divided on it. The ukulele driven song, (yes I said, Ukulele) was supposedly written by Tyler Joseph for his mom. After posting their summer smash “Holding On To You” back in June, which made us all stand up and take notice, this is quite a departure musically. The duo from Ohio, prove their versatility in being able to drop a folksy ballad that still feels very much indie.

Where Tyler infused a sense of the psychotic in their video for “Holding” with rapid head movements and dancers with skeletons faces, here in “House of Gold” the creepiness is quite disturbing. What starts out looking like the boys have gone sentimental, turns suddenly into a “WTF” moment. You’re not sure if mom did this or they made a major mistake with the combine. Either way, this #4 track from their new album Vessel is good no matter how you slice it.

If you like it, share it.
