The Jungle Book Movie Has Director Jon Favreau Sharing Photos Like A Schoolgirl

It’s not planned to open in theaters until October of next year (2015), but Director Jon Favreau appears to be so excited about his latest assignment on Disney’s The Jungle Book, he’s been sharing photos on social media like a schoolgirl. Five months ago he posted a photo of newcomer Neel Sethi. The New York born, ten year old Indian-American chosen to play the lead role and only on screen actor as, Mowgli. Since then, Favreau has teased fans with several photos of the films voice actors, leading up to a very cool behind the scenes shot this past Wednesday. Like we said, He’s excited. And he should be, we’re excited too.

If anyone can be trusted directing such a classic as Rudyard Kipling’s tale of a boy raised by wolves, and an animated movie that still excites newcomers after almost fifty years, it’s Jon Favreau. Even as I write, there are millions of television audiences watching what has now become a holiday classic, Elf. The 2003 New Line Cinema Christmas movie he directed starring Will Ferrill. Iron Man and The Avengers are also proof that he has a keen ability to direct and produce films that appeal to both young people and adults alike; a skill needed to make a venture like this work.

Due in theaters October 9th, 2015, Disney’s The Jungle Book is “an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub raised in the jungle by a family of wolves, who embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery when he’s forced to abandon the only home he’s ever known”. A combination of live-action with “photorealistic CGI animals and environments”, the young Neel appears to be the only on screen actor – the rest of the star studded cast will voice the films famous characters.

Disney dropped both the films logo and concept artwork (top) this week via it’s Facebook page, but they were both trumped when Jon shared a behind the scenes shot, of what looks like the young actor as Mowgli inside a soundstage, surrounded by fog.

The Jungle Book stars Idris Elba – voice of Shere Khan, Bill Murry – voice of Baloo, Ben Kingsley – voice of Bagheera, Scarlett Johannsson – voice of Kaa and Christopher Walken – voice of King Louie. The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong’o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela.

We hope Mr. Favreau keeps sharing those photos, as we await the fruit of his labors. In the meantime you can visit his Instagram page to see the rest of his pics and follow him to stay up to date – HERE.

It’s the least we could do for comparing him to a schoolgirl.
