Mad Max Fury Road Continues The Desert Action 30 Years Later

Ready to talk about this Summer’s blockbuster films already? This May, director George Miller brings back all the desert maheim in Mad Max: Fury Road, thirty years since the franchises last installment filled the big screen. Starring Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky, a role that brought a little known actor named Mel Gibson onto the road to stardom in 1979, the Warner Bros. Pictures film will be the fourth in the series.

One look at the official trailer, released today (December 10th) will have both fans and newcomers alike itching to see it. With a solid cast that includes Oscar winner Charlize Theron (“Monster,” “Prometheus”) as the Imperator, Furiosa and Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”) as Nux, the action packed weirdness is sure to revive the franchise. There are reports that a follow up titled Mad Max: Furiosa is already in the works.

Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.

Oscar-winning filmmaker George Miller (“Happy Feet”) is directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Miller is also producing the film, along with longtime producing partner, Oscar nominee Doug Mitchell (“Babe”, “Happy Feet”), and P.J. Voeten. Iain Smith, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.
