What’s The Song On The ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Trailer?

Captain James T Kirk and crew are back this Summer in Paramount Pictures sci-fi action film, Star Trek Beyond. By the look of the first official trailer, fans have every reason to get excited. Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty and a host of others battle it out in the high action visual, while one kick a** song plays along.

If you’re wondering “What’s the song” on the official trailer to Star Trek Beyond, we’ve got the answer. The track is called “Sabotage” and it’s by former hip-hop/rock group, the Beastie Boys.

The rapcore track playing along to all the action in the latest Star Trek Beyond trailer, was released by the Beastie Boys way back in 1994. “Sabotage” was the first single released off of the bands fourth studio album at the time titled, ll Communication.



The mulit-Grammy award winning Beastie Boys, had a long running successful career that spanned from 1980, up to 2012. That was the year the group were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and founding member Adam Nathaniel Yauch (known by his stage name MCA), died from cancer. Leaving the two remaining members Michael “Mike D” Diamond and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz to retire the group.

The Song – “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys

An interesting fact about the song “Sabotage” being used as the trailer song for Star Trek Beyond, is that it was already used in the original reboot from director J.J. Abrams.

In the 2009 film Star Trek, the song is played on the radio in the car that a very young James T. Kirk, has taken for a joy-ride.
