Movie Trailers: ‘A Monster Calls’ Brings Fantasy Book To Life This October

This October, Focus Features is bringing the fantasy novel ‘A Monster Calls’ to the big screen starring Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell, Liam Neeson and Lewis MacDougall. Patrick Ness, the author of the book for which the film is based, also wrote the screenplay.

The J. A. Bayona directed movie is a visually spectacular drama about a 12-year-old boy named Conor (Lewis MacDougall), who attempts to deal with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith.

The Cast: A Monster Calls

Lewis MacDougall as Conor O’Malley – You may remember Lewis from the 2015 film PAN – he played Peter’s best friend Nibs. This is his first starring role.

Liam Neeson as The Monster – One of the most famous voices in Hollywood as well faces, Liam is all talk here as the Monster.

Sigourney Weaver as Conor’s Grandmother – The 66 year old actress who is most famous for her role in the Alien movies, plays the one person the young Conor doesn’t want to end up with.

Felicity Jones as Conor’s Mother – Not to hard to recognize this beautiful English actress, she starred in the Academy Award nominated film The Theory Of Everything in 2014 and stars as Jyn Erso in the upcoming film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Toby Kebbell as Conor’s Father – The 33 year old English actor has already starred in some big budget fantasy films like, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Wrath of the Titans, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Fantastic Four and this years game to film movie, Warcraft.

A Monster Calls opens in theaters October 21st, 2016.
