Touching Video of Women Dancing In OR Before Surgery (Video)

What were you doing this past Tuesday November 5th? Most of you were probably not preparing to have a double mastectomy or dancing to Beyonce’s Get Me Bodied. But at the UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion in San Francisco, that’s just what patient Deborah Cohan was doing in the OR, along with the surgical staff.

The mother of two posted on her Caring Bridge blog on November 1st, that she had planned the special dance party right before going under the knife for her double mastectomy. Calling it her “Get Me Bodied Flash Mob” she wrote, “I will be dancing in my little hospital gown and bouffant cap in the Mt. Zion operating room with the surgical and anesthesia teams. My fantasy is for you to play the song and dance wherever you happen to be…” What she intended to be for a select few has now turned into a viral connection with over 4.5 million views in just 3 days.

For some, the six minute video may seem long, but for anyone facing a life changing surgery as Deborah was that day, I’m sure she thought the time flew by. Thumbs up to the surgical staff who laid their pride aside and joined in on the dance.

We wish her all the best and a speedy recovery.
