Merriment’s Debut Album “Sway” Is One Sweet Treat (Stream)

Texas indie-pop/rock/sometimes folk (as they describe their sound) duo Merriment, released one sweet debut LP this past April titled, Sway. The brother and sister pair (whose older siblings form another indie band called Eisley), were brought together when Christie DuPree who was pursuing a solo career, reached out to her brother Collin for support on guitar. The pairing turned into new venture called Merriment, a debut EP and now their first full length album, Sway.

Christie DuPree fills the 12 tracks with her light and flowing vocals, which fit nicely upon mainly acoustically driven folk-pop tracks. The lyric video above is for one of the featured songs on the album, “Backwards” which released in November of last year. We also like the lead track, “Take Heart”. As the DuPree’s state themselves, it can be a bit of a struggle to fix them to a single genre; it really depends on what kind of atmosphere the songs are being played in at the moment. Several could easily find placement on TV or film. Stream the album above, which is available now and see for yourself.
