Band Aid 30 “Do They Know It’s Christmas” Released With Video

In just a few more days it will be exactly 30 years since the original release of “Do They Know It’s Christmas” by Band Aid. Written and produced by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure and recorded at the Sarm West Studios in Notting Hill, London on November 25th, 1984 – this week saw a re-work and a new release of the hit holiday track. A few artists like U2’s Bono and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who have appeared on previous versions (Bono – Original & BandAid 20, Martin BandAid 20) joined a new cast of some of today’s hottest UK singers.

The event took center stage over the weekend, as the artists arrived in Notting Hill for what Bob Geldolf told BBC News was a “little bit of pop history“. Fans of today’s hit makers like Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding and Emeli Sande will be thrilled to here their vocals taking the place of yesterday’s stars. The track, expected to go number one before Monday is over, is available for download now via iTunes, with all proceeds going towards the Ebola crises in Western Africa.

The physical copy of the re-worked “Do They Know It’s Christmas” will be made available on December 8th, 2014.
