Trailer: In The Heart Of The Sea Takes Us Beyond Moby Dick

I remember the look on my English teachers face the day I stood in front of my tenth grade class to give my verbal report on Herman Melville’s novel, Moby Dick. He thought I had actually read the book – what are you kidding, the thing had over 300 pages and in my day, no one under the age of 25 read a book that large – Cliffnote, that’s what we read. As far as Moby Dick, I saw the movie.

This Spring, director Ron Howard directs the action adventure “In the Heart of the Sea,” based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s best-selling book about the dramatic true journey of the Essex (it has over 300 pages too). The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s MobyDick. But that told only half the story. “In the Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, when the crew’s struggle to survive shipwreck, resorted even to cannibalism.
