History Channel’s Hit Series ‘Vikings’ Returns For Season 3 – Are You Watching?

History Channel’s hit series ‘Vikings’ returns this month for it’s third season. If you haven’t yet tuned in, there is still time to catch up with the first two seasons on Hulu and Amazon.

The channels first scripted drama follows the life and adventures of the historical and also mythical Norse ruler, Ragnar Lothbrok. Aussie actor Travis Fimmel is perfect as the farmer turned King, who longs to advance his people across Europe and the world. Via lots of killing and plundering of course.

Vikings second season premiered with an average 3.6 million viewers, making it History’s best returning series on record. Fans of period dramas will appreciate the grand landscapes and action packed battle scenes. There are moments of intense brutality and getting your head around the Vikings veracious appetite for raiding is not always easy. But finding a character to like is and the story-line is interesting enough to keep you engaged and occasionally surprised.

Similar to Game of Thrones and probably in line with this era, people die often. In other words, outside of the main characters of Ragnar and his family and friends, it’s not wise to get to attached. The upcoming season is already boasting the addition of four new characters.

There are moments of partial nudity, but nothing along the lines of other epic series on cable networks. You won’t see frontal here. That doesn’t mean Vikings is not gritty or sensual enough for adults. There are scenes that even grown men may find themselves turning their heads or closing their eyes for a moment. These are Vikings, not pilgrims. There is action, passion, murder, adventure and all the things that make for a great drama.

Vikings – Season 3 Trailer

“The gripping family saga of Ragnar, Rollo (Clive Standen), Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) continues as alliances and loyal friendships are questioned, faith is catechized and relationships are strained”.
