Daniel Craig: I don’t give a f**k who plays Bond next

Daniel Craig: I don’t give a f**k who plays Bond next

Daniel Craig doesn’t give a fuck who plays Bond next. At least that’s what he told London’s Time Out magazine in a newly published interview. It’s the kind of direct answer we’ve come to expect from the 47 year old English actor – he used that particular expletive 11 times with Time Out.

At first glance it could appear to fans of the franchise that Craig counts his time as the spy with the licence to kill, as a burden. His reply to the question, Can you imagine doing another Bond Movie, he states “Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists…” But as you read between the lines, it looks more like someone going through the process of separation, than it does frustration.

Scene from Spectre

Daniel has already played James Bond three times, beginning with Casino Royale back in 2006. Spectre will be his fourth time playing the Secret Service agent and could be his last. The year leading up to the November release of the latest installment, has been filled with rumors about whether he would return for another film and who would take his place if he didn’t. These are big movies, with a character that is larger than life and anyone with sense could understand the kind of pressure doing it right could put on an actor. His one wish after filming ends; “Literally, just have a holiday. It’s fair enough, no? I just want to switch my brain off”, he tells the publication.

Craig does give some blunt advise when asked what kind of tips would he pass on to the next actor – “don’t be shit! Don’t be shit. You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don’t be shit”.

Spectre Official Trailer:

The franchise has done very well with Craig, Skyfall has now gone on to become the highest-grossing film in the series. Spectre is looking like it could possibly surpass that mark. As that anticipation builds, and if Spectre is another huge hit – having Daniel Craig back for another ride is bound to be THE question on both the minds of moviegoers and the Bond empire.

Daniel Craig on Set

Whatever he does, one thing is for certain, Daniel Craig has taken James Bond to the next level. If this is his last time as Bond, I think moviegoers can get over it. As the actor shared with the magazine about leaving the role (whenever that is), “All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we’ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that’s all”.
