Johnny Depp Returns In ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’ This Coming May

When the day becomes the night, and the sky becomes the sea. Then the clock strikes heavy, and there’s no time for tea. And in our darkest hour, before my final rhyme, she will come back home to Wonderland, and turn back the hands of time“. Those mysterious words, are heard in the first trailer for Walt Disney Pictures upcoming fantasy sequel, Alice Through The Looking Glass.

The follow up to Disney’s 2010 Alice In Wonderland, the film sees the return of Johnny Depp as The Mad Hater, Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. Additions to the cast include Sacha Baron Cohen as the half-clock, half-human character Time and Rhys Ifans, as the Mad Hatter’s father Zanik Hightopp.

Although the original Alice failed to get top marks from critics, it had great success at the box office; with sales exceeding the one billion dollar mark. Coming in second to Toy Story 3, the Tim Burton directed film did beat out Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 that year, to finish up as the second highest grossing film of 2010.

Linda Woolverton returned to pen the screenplay for the sequel and director duties were traded from Tim Burton (2010) to James Bobin (Muppets). Burton is producing.

Alice Through The Looking Glass, is based on the 1871 novel Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll.
